Overview

As our Clinical Dietitian at CHI St. Vincent assesses the nutritional status of the patient using recognized tools of assessment, and recommends and counsels patients, family, and/or caregivers on the appropriate nutrition plan to improve the patient's disease or condition management. Works with general patient population, as well as, with patients in more complex level of care under supervision of a Clinical Dietitian II or Clinical Dietitian Lead. 

Every day you will serve the patients, families and staff nutritious food that promotes health and healing to the body. You will be expected to set up trays for the hospital patients, following posted menus requests from the patient room service program while taking individual likes and dislikes into account. You will also be collecting dirty trays and dishes from the patient care areas and cleaning dishes in an automatic dishwasher and returning these dishes in the proper storage areas

Responsibilities
  • As an entry level clinician, assesses the nutritional status of the patient using recognized tools of assessment, and recommends and counsels patients, family, and/or caregivers on the appropriate nutrition plan to improve the patient’s disease or condition management.
  • Perform nutritional assessment using age and gender appropriate standards, cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds; and utilizing validated assessment tools resulting in nutrition related diagnosis when indicated.
  • Conducts routine screening to identify patients at nutritional risk.
  • Collaborates within an interdisciplinary environment to contribute to facilitating care and identifying patients at nutrition risk or needing higher level of care.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with completion of accredited dietitian program (ACEND - Accreditation Councils for Education in Nutrition Dietetics) 
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Current (within the past 12 months) ServSafe Allergen and Food Handler Certifications (must be complete within 30 days of hire)
