Responsibilities

Performs a coordination role for activities associated to deliver radiation therapy to presenting patients ‐ Patient scheduling of CT and radiation therapy delivery, supply management, education of radiation therapy staff. With the
medical physicist the Chief radiation therapist monitors to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, and assures that required quality assurance activities are integrated, measured, audited and reported to the medical
physicist. The Chief radiation therapist Participates in equipment evaluation, implementation of technological advances, and he/she Performs a collaborative role with Center management, physicians, Dosimetrist, physicists, and
others to ensure efficient workflow, timely and accurate documentation, timely billing, and problem analysis to support the radiation therapy provision of service.


ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervises Radiation Therapists.

2. Monitors patient treatment in accordance with specific department policies.

3. Provides training in therapy delivery, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and patient scheduling.

4. Develops and monitors quality indicators, creates supportive policies/procedures for prescribed safe practice.

5. Provides competent leadership on a daily basis to support compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, and safety.

6. Responsible to monitor therapist performance of radiation treatments and Oversees QA processes for operational safety of radiation delivery.

7. Reports QA equipment variances to medical physicist for resolution.

8. Responsible for par levels of supplies to support patient load.

9. Controls costs.

10. Supports clinical research and data collection. Researches to present in‐services annually to staff members.

11. Oversees chart review for documentation and charge accuracy.

12. Develops performance activities, measures and presents findings routinely. Ensures statistical report accuracy through chart and charge capture reconciliation.

13. Participates in decision planning for service growth including new revenue charges and documentation.

14. Orients staff and Performs annual evaluations of therapists.

15. Collaborates with the Director to develop annual budget that Provides efficient safe delivery of services to meet patient service expectations.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiation Therapy
  • Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Licensed by Texas Department of Health as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
  • Licensed RRT
  • Three (3) years related experience

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:

  • Must be able to provide guidance for staff and others to provide patient education to patients and patient families.
  • Must be able to develop communication processes to maintain clear scheduling processes for patients.
  • Must be a role model in the display of standards of behavior.
