Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. It is one of the area’s largest and most comprehensive medical centers. Dedicated to the community’s well-being our staff and volunteers provide excellence in care for our patients each year. Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement. 


Responsibilities

The Apprentice Engineer provides a variety of maintenance skills development including preventive maintenance and repairs to the building and grounds, related fixed and portable equipment, and installation under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and/or Assistant Engineer, while successfully performing the Apprentice Program.applies DIGNITY HEALTH Core Values to the performance of every job duty.

  • Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and
    courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate. Screens individuals by requesting to see identification
  • Works with minimal supervision
  • Organizes and completes assigned work in a timely manner
  • Addresses duties and interactions with all internal and external customers as committed to Core Values
  • Fosters a cooperative effort in meeting the goals of the team and sharing the workload.
  • Communicates a positive and caring attitude toward the unit, peers, staff, patients, and other contacts.
  • Seeks guidance, direction, and assistance when needed
  • Recognizes and utilizes appropriate lines of communication.
  • Uses a problem solving approach to resolve jobrelated issues.
  • Has the ability to listen, comprehend, and respond immediately to directions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and hospitalrelated information, communications and documents.
  • Participates in the orientation of new staff and provides assistance to training students as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience: 

  • 1-2 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year in area of related field (preferred).

Education:

  • Acceptance into & successful active participation within the I.U.O.E. Stationary Engineers Local 39 Union Engineer Apprenticeship program.

Licensure: 

  • Valid California Drivers License.

Training: 

  • Completion of annual safety training.
  • Completes and maintains required unit specific training.
