Responsibilities

This position oversees and directs the workflow of the department on a daily basis, as well as "troubleshooting" for the department by handling patient/customer complaints in person and on the
phone. The Lead Assistant is responsible for orienting and training staff, processing timecards, assigning duties using approved policies/procedures consistent with State/Federal (HIPAA) legal regulations. Acts as liasion with the Contracted Copy Service and works with Patients, Medical and Support staff, Ancillary Services, etc. for the physicians in the medical group as well as the hospital and satelite offices to process approximately 1500 requests per month. Invoices for services when appropriate. Trains staff and completes State Disablility and Insurance Disability claims along with MVA reports, Tumor registry, and other miscellaneous forms. Coordinates and invoices for Physician/AHP Appearance at Trials & Depositions.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years increasingly responsible clerical experience in a hospital or clinic setting or any combination of education experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Minimum of five years experience releasing protected health information, including 2 years experience in a clinic setting releasing protected health information as required by State and Federal requirements.
  • This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent. The completion of an AHIMA or CHIA certification approved Registered Health Information Technology.
  • Microsoft Windows, computer input and inquiry a must. Excellent communication skills with the public, co-workers and physicians, always performing in a professional manner in a highly stressful environment. Must be detail oriented, extremely organized and highly flexible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IDX and IBAX systems preferred.
