Responsibilities

Job Summary:

  • Under the direction of the Medical Director performs all MRI procedures in accordance with department protocols following established safety guidelines associated with the MRI environment

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all MRI procedures according to department protocol.
  • Assist radiologist during procedures.
  • Code correct ICD-10 Codes and CPT codes on requisitions and order slips.
  • Retrieve patient information from the computer systems.
  • File and retrieve film files
  • Process films and maintain darkroom in serviceable condition.
  • Identify and report maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and safety problems to immediate supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and assist with their resolution.
  • Use appropriate telephone etiquette.
  • Provide training and support for Yuba Community College Radiology students

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • The minimum requirement is certification from a school designed to provide specialized MRI principles and training or a current Radiologic Technology license from the State of California (CRT) or certificate from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with 4 years of dedicated full time MRI experience.

Licensure: 

  • Certificate from the American Registry of Radioogic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association. 

Special Experience:

  • PHYSICAL FACTORS: Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time; requires the ability to bend stoop and stretch frequently. 
  • Must be able to move 75-100 pounds and manipulate equipment up to 45 inches above head position patients carry cassettes and film files. 
  • Must be able to push portable X-ray machinery wheelchairs gurneys and beds. 
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and visualize the fluoro monitor and equipment console.

Training: 

  • Have a combination of education, experience, and inter-personal skills.
  • Knowledge of: anatomy and physiology for medical imaging including cross-sectional relationships.
  • Medical terminology relating to medical imaging
  • Principles of operation and care of MRI equipment and accessories
  • Currently accepted MRI procedures
  • Mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment
  • Use and hazards of diagnostic contrast materials.
  • Ability to perform general and specialized MRI procedures which meet the department's standard of quality
  • Respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions arising while the patient is in the department
  • Treat patients, visitors, and staff with courtesy and tact
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient record and information
  • Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require
  • Organize work assignments, maintain accurate and complete records
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in procedural detail record keeping
  • Work independently on-call completing all required clerical and technical functions.
  • Must current with education credits/CPR/IV Certification.
  • Locum coverage staffing for MRI would only need minimum required credentials to perform MRI procedures accepted by any state regulations in the interim.
