Responsibilities

Maintains follow up with insurance companies to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement is received. Maintains knowledge of payer guidelines for both government and commercial payers including detailed knowledge of billing/collection requirements and contract/reimbursement language.


Qualifications

Minimum

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years physician billing/collection experience or other related healthcare provider claims experience in a high volume medical healthcare claim environment. (Includes health plan physician claims/ reimbursement/appeals experience).
  • AHCCCS/ Medicare/government Commercial payer experience.
  • HCFA 1500 billing experience.
  • Knowledge of insurance plan intricacies. Current knowledge of CPT/HCPC codes. Previous experience with computerized billing systems, Word Processing and Spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of collection guidelines and regulations.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and read and interpret complex contract language.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment; e.g., telephone system, computer, fax machine, copier, printer.

Preferred

  • Four (4) years physician billing/collection experience or other related healthcare provider claims experience in a high volume medical healthcare claim environment. (Includes health plan physician claims/reimbursement/ appeals experience.)
  • College level business courses helpful
  • Two years relevant college education plus experience
  • Experience with Google Workplace applications, Cerner and FinThrive preferred. Knowledge of coding rules and guidelines
