The Community Benefit Manager contributes to the fulfillment of the CHI Health mission and vision by managing the organization’s Community Benefit strategy. The position maintains expertise in Community Benefit requirements and financial standards. They set and implement a strategy to capture and report Community benefit financial data from across the system. This position works with the Healthier Communities team, finance, tax, accounting, revenue cycle, as well as other System departments and campuses to provide comprehensive community benefit documentation and reporting.

**Strong Accounting and Finance Acumen Needed**

Location: Omaha, NE

    1. Accounting for Community Benefit. Actively manages and audits the necessary tracking associated with the requirements of a community benefit system. Collects and reports data through CBISA software, accounting software systems, and directly from accountable parties as necessary if not captured through other financial systems.  Establishes and maintains collaborative processes to streamline community benefit reporting with internal partners, including finance, mission, clinical education, hospital administration and other staff. Using standard forms, compiles and reports community benefit to internal and external constituencies including, but not limited to state hospital associations, and state and/or federal agencies.  
    2. Community Benefit Subject Matter Expertise.Maintains expertise in community benefit reporting,accounting and tax practices to accurately account for community benefit activities in accordance with current IRS, Health System and respective state definitions. Provides community benefit activity and financial information necessary for IRS reporting and periodic audits. Monitor national trends and research related to community benefit and prepare reports as needed.
    3. Training and Education. Responsible for training and developing CBISA software “Reporters.”  Provides individual, group and online education and development to CHI Health employees and particular work units to enhance the understanding of community benefit opportunities, including how and when to report activities.  Leads training and communications to employees and constituents about community benefit and CHI Health’s community benefit program.
    4. Technological expertise. Enters data, runs reports,manages and serves as the internal expert on Lyons software (CBISA). Audits and ensures accepted reporting of community benefit activities in CBISA. Conducts audits of existing activities and proactively leads initiatives to identify and capture new community benefit opportunities. 
    5. Quarterly and Annual Reporting.  Prepares and presents quarterly financials for the Market leadership, as well as individual facility financial reporting to keep all Community Benefit contributors up-to-date on current state of Community Benefit reporting. Assumes the primary responsibility, under the direction of the Market Director, Community and Population Health, for the development of an annual community impact report (aggregate/ facility- level data), annual IRS Schedule H tax filings and biannual grant financial reporting.  These reports will include quantitative and qualitative analysis of community benefit activities in formats appropriate for external stakeholders and internal leadership. Also provides Ad Hoc presentations as requested by system leaders. 
    6. Financial Processing and Tracking. Assists with the processing, tracking and financial coding of payments for the Community Benefit and Corporate Sponsorship departmental expenses and completes a monthly reconciliation of posted expenses in comparison to budget.
    7. Grant Accounting.  Responsible for creating and implementing a  process for the accounting of grants within the financial accounting system.  Works directly with the grant managers and accounting to reconcile grant expenses on a monthly basis and prepares timely reports to these individuals for their reporting purposes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Management/Administration,  Finance, Public Health, Health Administration and Policy or related field.

Preferred Master of Business Administration or related degree. 

A minimum of three years experience in accounting or finance within a health care system or related profession.
