Are you a passionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist looking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity? St Clare Hospital is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team and provide exceptional respiratory care to our diverse patient population.

About the Role:

As a Respiratory Therapist at St Clare Hospital, you will play a critical role in the care of patients with heart and lung abnormalities, both ambulatory and non-ambulatory, across various hospital settings, including intensive care and the emergency room. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a wide range of respiratory treatments: This includes administering aerosol therapy, analyzing arterial blood gases (ABGs), managing endotracheal tubes (ETTs), performing bronchoscopy, electrocardiograms (ECGs), chest physiotherapy (CPT), ventilator care, and CPAP/BIPAP therapy. You will also be responsible for airway care, including intubation/extubation and tracheostomy care.
  • Monitoring and assessing patient conditions: You will continuously evaluate patients' cardiopulmonary status using data from physical examinations, respiratory monitoring, and diagnostic equipment. You will promptly identify and address adverse reactions, taking corrective actions based on established procedures.
  • Collaborating with the medical team: You will determine the effectiveness of treatments and recommend changes to physicians as needed.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation: Accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities in our electronic health record system, including billing charges, is essential.
  • Participating in essential hospital functions: This includes resuscitation services, staff orientations, student education, quality improvement projects, and maintaining up-to-date skills in the ever-evolving field of respiratory care.
  • (For new Hyperbaric Medicine hires): Successful completion of a Certified Hyperbaric Training course and obtaining the Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) license within 120 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
  • One year of recent clinical experience in respiratory care. Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Washington State Department of Health license to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required within six months of hire (12 months for those hired before March 1, 2024 for PALS).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Cultural sensitivity and competence in providing care to diverse patient populations.
