Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The OB Tech performs routine patient care activities and related non-professional services in the care of the sub-acute acute and critically ill patient undergoing cesarean and vaginal deliveries. The OB Tech works under the direction of a registered nurse. This position treats/cares for patients of all ages. The OB Tech demonstrates proficiency in scrubbing gowning gloving and holding retractors under the direct supervision of the surgeon during the intra-operative phase of Cesarean Sections and like procedures. This position assists the anesthesiologist as needed with Room Support duties and is responsible for the turnover of ORs and LDRs. The OB Tech assists RNs with patient care during deliveries including gathering of items needed for patient care aseptic set-up of delivery tables and replenishing/ maintaining par levels of supplies in the L/D areas. This position includes duties to maintain the charts and perform secretarial duties in the Maternal Child area including scheduling appointments and entering charges.


Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • Six months surgical tech experience required.
  • Current AHA BLS
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of operating room techniques principles of aseptic techniques ability to perform procedures in all specialties

Preferred:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • One year of surgical tech experience preferred.
  • uccessful completion of an Operating Room Technician training course which covers basic standards of practice and experience.
