Responsibilities
Franciscan Medical Group, as part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is currently seeking a full time Sonographer for our Franciscan Women's Health Clinic in Burien, WA.
Our Sonographers work hand in hand with our providers, assist in procedures and are a primary focus for patient interactions. Occasional weekends however no organizationally recognized holidays required.
Job Summary:
This job is responsible for performing obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound examinations at a technical level in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements. An incumbent assumes responsibility for the safe, efficient and proper operation of ultrasound equipment.
Essential Job Duties:
Executes all varieties of obstetrical and gynecologic diagnostic ultrasound exams presently offered by the department; performs all examinations in accordance with American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) standards and department protocols; determines correct techniques to obtain images of the highest quality and resolution; and participates (along with supervising Obstetrician/Gynecologist) in the final exam diagnosis.
Serves as a liaison between patients, interpreting physicians (Obstetrician/Gynecologist) and referring providers; explains testing procedures to patient; ensures that emergent exam results are relayed promptly to the appropriate physician.
Utilizes appropriate educational resources to maintain currency in diagnostic sonography, and assists in various educational services relating to both staff and patients; attends local and national professional meetings to stay abreast of new procedures, equipment or information; participates in the formal training of ultrasound interns; evaluates new ultrasound products and equipment.
Performs incidental office duties as necessary to maintain the completeness of the patient record; ensures that patient data is entered correctly and that patients are billed appropriately.
Assists with Quality Assurance/Improvements audits and activities as required.
Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience:
Graduation from an accredited training program in Cardiac and/or General diagnostic radiology (Certificate in sonography).
Recent completion of a twelve-month internship in diagnostic ultrasound or equivalent recent directly-related work experience.
Licensure/Certifications:
Current registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Current certification by the American Association of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)
Current Health Care Provider BLS certification.
