PHC is a part of Dignity Health Central Coast’s award-winning network of outstanding hospitals imaging centers laboratories and post-acute services.
Responsibilities

In keeping with the Pacific Central Coast Health Centers healthcare philosophy the Cardiac Sonographer performs ultrasound procedures at a technically proficient level. Positions and instructs the patient operates ultrasound equipment and determines the technical factors for ultrasound procedures. Ensures correct marking/labeling of images provide and confirm proper/adequate documentation of procedures to assist in diagnosis. Technically proficient in a variety of ultrasound procedures. Ability to train staff members to perform procedures requiring independent judgement. Position requires ingenuity and initiative for the diagnosis and therapy of disease.  Responsibilities may include:

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department standards and in keeping with the orders of the referring physician.
  • Operates all ultrasound equipment computers and accessories.
  • Demonstrates competency in film-processing procedures.
  • Identifies and initiates accurate assessment of life-threatening conditions.
  • Interviews patients for pertinent medical history and obtains consents on patients prior to performing studies as required

Qualifications
  • Three (3) years experience performing Ultrasound procedures in an outpatient facility if not RDMS.
  • RDCS or RCS or RYT or RDMS or ARDMS
  • Demonstrates knowledge in both general and cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. 
  • Must have working knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures.
  • Must also know departmental protocols and procedures. 
  • Ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members physicians and the patient population. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
  • Self- motivated and able to achieve results through good organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team-oriented environment.
