Responsibilities

SUMMARY - The practice of radiation therapy is performed by health care professionals responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for the purpose of treating disease, primarily cancer. This position
is responsible for assisting in localizing tumors, participates in treatment planning, proficiency in all modalities including Brachytherapy and CyberKnife, simulation, on -call status, leadership skills, and
delivering high doses of ionizing radiation treatment to patients in accordance with prescription and instructions from Radiation Oncologists under direction of the Manager of Radiation Oncology.

This position is primarily located at the Dignity Health Cancer Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, located in the heart of downtown Phoenix.  Therapists in this position administer radiation treatments utilizing state of the art technology including Varian True Beam linear accelerators, Elekta Flexitron HDR afterloader, VisionRT, and a Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT.  The therapist utilizes the ARIA EMR.


Qualifications

MINIMUM

Minimum 18 months experience as a radiation therapist in a radiation oncology clinic.

Associate's Degree - Successful completion of an accredited education program in radiation therapy 

Certicate in Radiation Therapy and Associates of Applied Science in Radiography required

Registered as a Radiation Therapist, RT(T), by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (CT ARRT),
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CT PRBLS)

Licensed as a Certied Therapy Technologist (CTT) by the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Special Licensing (LIC CTT).

Advanced computer skills

PREFERRED

24 months experience as a radiation therapist in a radiation oncology clinic.

Associates of Applied Science in Radiation Therapy preferred.
