Responsibilities

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for preparing superior quality food, which meets standards for flavor, texture, appearance, temperature, nutritional value, and palatability for patients, patrons and catering guests.  At all times, correct food handling and sanitary procedures in accordance with health regulatory standards are integral to this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares and cooks food for Grab & Goes, Salads and any other assigned task; utilizing standardized recipes, and following guide book to ensure quality and consistency. Responsible for appearance and proper service of food (sanitation and temperature). Is thoroughly familiar with the cook / serve method of Food Service.
  • Prepare food items to meet high quality standards and appropriate deadlines, including items such as salads, which are prepped in advance.
  • Utilize Grab & Go/Salad production guides properly; documenting initial and final quantities of products prepared for the respective production areas on a regular basis.
  • Utilize Grab & Go/Salads standardized recipes, making modifications as necessary to improve product quality, recording the modifications and communicating them to the supervisor. 
  • Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, mixers, and blenders.
  • Test, develop and standardize new recipes as assigned.
  • Practice proper food handling procedures at all times.
  • Utilize leftover foods in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Ensures that all food production equipment and utensils are inspected and maintained for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Check in orders, and following established procedures.
  • Other duties as scheduled or assigned.
  • Available during lunch hours to help with Pizza Station/Lunch My Way slips.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in culinary skills in food preparation, presentation, and garnishment

Required Licensure and/or Certification:

  • State of Oregon Food Handler’s Card

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics with a high degree of Good oral and written communication skills. 
  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to lift at least 30 pounds is required. 
  • Knowledge of age-specific nutrition requirements to meet needs of patients is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of quantity cooking experience
