Clinical Lab Scientist - Clinical Laboratory Services

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team in Clinical Laboratory Services. This position plays a crucial role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care across various hospital departments.


Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of laboratory tests in multiple disciplines, including:
  • Hematology: Complete blood counts, coagulation studies, blood bank procedures
  • Chemistry: Electrolytes, enzymes, hormones, drug levels
  • Microbiology: Bacterial culture and identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing
  • Immunology: Autoantibody testing, serological markers
  •  Urinalysis and Body Fluids: Microscopic examination, chemical analysis
  •  Molecular Diagnostics: PCR testing, genetic analysis
  •  Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including analyzers, microscopes, and automated systems
  • Ensure proper specimen handling, processing, and analysis
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
  • Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and proficiency testing
  • Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel, physicians, and nurses
  • Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and technologies

Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care facility required.
  • Required training in Hematology Chemistry Blood Bank Microbiology Immunology and Serology as applicable.
  • B.A./B.S. required
  • Windows Operating System.
  • Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel helpful.
  • California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or Limited California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License California Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License are required and ASCP registry preferred
  • Current Los Angeles County fire card is required.
  • For direct patient care AHA BLS certification is required for CLS drawing blood donors only.
