Under the direction of the Region CSO and in partnership with the Market President, implements Region and Market area strategy. Develops major goals and implementation plans to support strategic objectives with a focus on consistent growth for key markets, service lines and programs, along with advanced analytics of the market and opportunities. Leads the implementation of initiatives to support key business strategies/  advance the organization's integrated network.  Operationalize growth and physician alignment strategies.

Responsibility for strategic network growth/business development through mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and creative partnerships with health systems, hospitals, ambulatory centers and physicians and targeted growth through community outreach. Directs and motivates subordinates  and project teams to achieve functional goals and carry out initiatives. 


Responsibilities

Planning: Serves as a thought leader and leads strategic planning activities to include the analysis, negotiation and implementation of plans to achieve future market position, growth of  business, and overall market share.  Continually assesses and refines strategies to best position the Market.  Leads Strategy and efforts in network development and to create and sustain integrated delivery systems across the continuum.

Growth Initiatives/ Business  Development: Leads the Markets in choosing key growth initiatives.  Oversees implementation of key strategic initiatives to drive growth.  Identifies, evaluates and plans new business opportunities/ service offerings, new products and services; and merger, acquisition, JV or affiliation opportunities. Leads master plan development in partnership with Market Leadership and NRES.

Stakeholder Engagement: Works with key internal and external stakeholders including physicians to ensure capability and capacity of clinical services are available.   Promotes corporation and ensures positive stakeholder relations through active community engagement. 

Physician Strategy/ Physician/ Development  Planning: Development and implementation of Physician Development / Alignment strategy in concert with Physician Enterprise, Region and Market leadership.

Provider Recruitment: Collaborates with Physician Enterprise regarding recruitment and retention of employed providers  and recruitment  methodology to align/ recruit/acquire physicians/ APPs based on the context of each market’s strategy.

Partnerships, Acquisitions, and Integration: Evaluates and recommends market priorities for strategic network growth through mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and creative partnerships.  Partners with Legal, System M&A team and Innovation in the development of  the  transaction and business case.  Participate as a member of the transaction team in informing the  negotiation, due diligence, implementation and integration planning,  and post transaction implementation. 

Management and Budget: Plans, directs and evaluates the work of subordinate management in accordance with the content, spirit and intent of applicable internal/ external regulations and standards for human resource management. Recommends employment decisions.  Educates, guides, counsels and develops staff and addresses performance management concerns and technical issues elevated by subordinates. Directs and motivates subordinates to achieve functional goals and carry out initiatives efficiently and with regard to cost and quality.  Exercises effective cost control by monitoring and adjusting expenses as needed to stay within budget.  May oversee the preparation of complete and accurate financial, budget, activity and productivity information, including variance reports and  financial projections.

Qualifications

Education 

  • Master's degree in related field required and/or additional job related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree
  • Minimum of 10  years of experience in healthcare strategy, business development, or related field required
  • 5-7 years management of experience required

Experience

  • Developing and implementing strategies in a competitive Academic, Acute care and Ambulatory healthcare market
  • Experience with partnerships and growth, driving through strategic mergers, acquisitions and partnerships
  • Operationalize and enhance physician alignment strategies to support overall market goals
  • A strategy-first mindset, with the ability to leverage market analytics, strategic intelligence, financial forecasts, competitive data sets, consumer segmentation, and  demand forecasting to  deliver the highest return.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior executives.
  • Ability to explore and develop potential areas of business growth for the organization.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a large geographically diverse system. Able to develop and maintain relationships with a variety of types of positions and individuals across the enterprise.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to build, mentor, and coach a high-performing team geographically diverse team.
