Responsibilities

We are seeking a project manager for our research administration department. The Project Manager will support the mission of the Barrow Neurological Foundation by serving as a liaison between Research Administration and the BNF. Responsibilities include administration, oversight, management, implementation and accountability of BNF funded research including grant and data collection activities for BNF funded research activities, and ensuring adherence to relevant policies and guidelines. This individual will coordinate grant announcements, fund raising events, report/metric generation, and communication activities related to progress/stewardship and annual BNF reporting and is heavily involved in the annual BNF grant submission process.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally and under the direction of the Fiscal Awards Officer, interfaces with Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) research directors, principle investigators
  • Serves as the liaison between the BNF and Research Administration for funded and audit activities.
  • Manages, organizes and plans the BNF operational activities of BNF funded research activities. Serves as the primary liaison for internal project sponsors, routinely informing key stakeholders of project plans, status updates, milestones, through regular reporting and coordinated discussions with the respective stake holders.
  • Manages BNF grants synergistically with Research Administration resources to perform transactional tasks and develop resources as they pertain to report generation, metric tracking, RFA announcements, progress/stewardship reports, and management BNF grant evolution.
  • Drive internal projects, tracking timelines, budget, and progress
  • Generates reports and metrics assuring accurate record keeping, data collection, and timely reporting of activities for BNF funded activities and grant recipients.
  • Coordinates the process flow of a BNF from initial concept through the final closure.
  • Works collaboratively with Research Administration and Research Finance to coordinate transactional tasks; progress reporting, etc.
  • Follow up duties – coordinates and manages outreach to grant recipients for submissions, progress and stewardship reports, annual reports (such as to the BNF BOD), establishing review panels and guidelines for grant review
  • Create templates for tracking financial, IP, external awards, publications
  • Submit annual research departmental BNF applications
  • Participates in the creation of the annual BNF reports and research budget.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, with at least 2 years of grant management experience.
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field.
Working knowledge of federal and state regulations

Education
Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with a combination of education and/or additional job related experience.

Degree in biology, physiology, business or related field.

PREFERRED:
Experience in medical research
Working knowledge of grant lifecycle
Experience in a grant-making organization, research institute, medical center or academic institution

5 years of progressively responsible experience.
Three (3) years’ experience is in research setting and grants management.

Ph.D. in biology or neuroscience preferred.
