Are you a skilled and compassionate Sonographer looking for a flexible opportunity to make a difference in patient care? St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, WA  is seeking a dedicated Per Diem Sonographer to join our dynamic Diagnostic Imaging team.

At St. Clare Hospital, we are committed to providing exceptional care to our community. As a Per Diem Sonographer, you will play a vital role in helping us achieve this mission by performing high-quality ultrasound examinations across a variety of specialties.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Per Diem Sonographer, you will perform ultrasound examinations in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements, ensuring the safe, efficient, and proper operation of ultrasound equipment. You will work across various specialty areas, including general and sub-specialties, in diverse healthcare settings. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses.
  • Determining the correct techniques to obtain images of the highest quality and resolution.
  • Performing quality control checks and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Delivering patient care for all age groups while performing ultrasound exams/procedures.
  • Facilitating diagnoses by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring proper billing.
  • Participating in quality assurance/improvement activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare and operate a variety of diagnostic ultrasound equipment according to AIUM standards and department protocols.
  • Obtain and record accurate patient history, prepare patients for exams, and position them properly for optimal imaging.
  • Evaluate ultrasound images and related data to facilitate accurate diagnoses.
  • Relay emergent exam results promptly to the appropriate physician or medical floor.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper billing.
  • Participate in the ordering and inventorying of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with quality assurance/improvements audits and activities as required.
  • Participate in the formal training of ultrasound interns.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited training program in General diagnostic sonography.
  • Recent completion of a twelve-month internship in diagnostic ultrasound (with at least six months in General ultrasound) or equivalent recent directly-related work experience.
  • Knowledge of current principles, procedures, and techniques relating to ultrasound examination.
  • Ability to perform procedures in strict compliance with applicable standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) OR Certification in Sonography by the American Association of Radiology Technologists (ARRT).
    • Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
