Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

Responsible for proper operation of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and mechanical support equipment to ensure all occupants of the building are safe and secure.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety of patients, visitors, and staff is high priority. Staff are expected to notice anything unsafe in their environment and due what they can to remove any unsafe situations.
  • Staff are responsible for the security of complete campus.
  • Understand and repair of electrical and pneumatic systems, digital building automation, and steam boilers.
  • Extensive preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements including all state, federal, and JCAHO regulations related to the department.
  • Understand how each system or component of a system affects departments.
  • One staff person is on-call at all times.
  • Staff must be willing to have direct contact with patient and visitors as necessary to perform regular work duties.
  • Works in a typical hospital environment subject to the hazards associated with such a facility including exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, emergency or crisis situations, and also weather related elements.
  • Must have no limitations for lifting, walking, bending, or climbing. Work requires lifting, transporting, and moving 50 lb. objects on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school and one year of experience in the performance of skilled building and mechanical maintenance and grounds keeping work. 

Required Licensure and Certifications 

  • Driver’s License Required 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training 

  • Must possess knowledge of air conditioning systems, boiler operations, electrical and plumbing skills.
