Responsibilities

Responsible for leading and strengthening a comprehensive fundraising program in support of the Hospital’s mission and goals.  Specific emphasis is focused on annual giving, major giving, planned giving, grants and fundraising events.  Develop annual measurable objectives in the areas of annual giving, special events, capital projects and campaign donations, planned giving and grant awards to support reaching strategic plan goals.  

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in community activities, Hospital and Foundation committees, and other endeavors to become integrated into the community and Hospital.
  • Maintain an active portfolio of major donor prospects and be responsible for a program of personal visits, relationship development, solicitation and stewardship activities.  Tasks will include preparing and sending transmittals to the national foundation office, coordinating reports and mailings to donors, data entry into HALO software system.
  • Responsible for coordination and grant writing, as well as specific grant related reporting required.  Work closely with department managers and CEO to identify fundraising focus targets and steps to reach financial goals.
  • Develop and create donor recognition materials, annual reports, fundraising material as needed for demand.  Write content for Foundation marketing material and newsletters.  Provide gift opportunities as part of new employee orientation.    
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships within the health care community. Writing and a high level of computer skills are necessary, including keyboarding skills, computer proficiency and data base management.  Well developed written and verbal communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.  Self-motivation and the ability to multi-task are essential.

Qualifications

General knowledge of office practices, policies and procedures, organization of health care; functions of all departments and effective methods of administration.  General knowledge of the facilities service areas and health care in general.  Computer, phone and office skills are needed along with knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook.

Bachelor’s degree or combination of training and experience in health care relations, sales, marketing and fundraising and development, or related experience preferred.

Creativity, initiative, maturity, interest in the public, as well as our health care family and ability to maintain a good rapport with same. 

Some travel is involved outside the complex. 

Flexibility with time as will be assisting with events as scheduled in the evening and/or weekend.
