Overview

Dignity Health’s Bakersfield Hospitals—Mercy and Memorial—have been trusted pillars of compassionate care in Kern County for generations.

Mercy Hospitals
have served the Bakersfield community since 1910. Mercy Hospital Downtown is a 194-bed facility located in the heart of the city, while Mercy Hospital Southwest is a 78-bed hospital serving the rapidly growing area west of Highway 99. Together, they offer a broad range of medical and surgical services—including minimally invasive and outpatient procedures, the only licensed OB ED in the community and is a level 2 NICU. 

Bakersfield Memorial Hospital
, serving the community since 1956, is a 385-bed acute care facility with 48 licensed critical care beds, 13 advanced surgical suites, and a full-service Emergency Department featuring an Accredited Chest Pain Center and a Nationally Certified Stroke Center. The hospital is also home to the Lauren Small Children’s Center, the area’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a Level II NICU, and the Sarvanand Heart and Brain Center—home to Kern County’s first Bi-Plane Interventional Suite. Additional services include the Family Care and Birthing Center, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics, and the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. As a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Memorial is committed to pediatric excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Creates and defines organizational education training and development goals and objectives based on evaluation of organizational and individual needs.
  • Organizes and coordinates resources to deliver education training and development programs Introducing and implementing most current methodologies.
  • Reviews curriculum and evaluating education training and development programs to ensure objectives are met.
  • Local administration of the enterprise learning management system.
  • Role is responsible for Education at both facilities (Bakersfield Memorial and Mercy Bakersfield)

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of education/healthcare-related experience and three (3) years of work experience in a management role is required. Previous direct patient care experience is required.

Licensure:

  • Licensed clinician (e.g. registered nurse occupational therapist physician's assistant etc.)
