Responsibilities
Job Summary:
Working as part of an interdisciplinary team and in consultation with other team members, the Program Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day direct care staffing and programming for the Adult Day Health Program, addressing chronic care needs. Responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising and motivating the direct care staff, day program planning. Position reports directly to Program Director.
Responsibilities:
- Selects, trains, evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policy and organizational philosophy.
- Provides direct supervision of program aides, therapy aides, drivers, activity coordinators and activity staff.
- Full implementation of Person Centered Care (PCC) in Practice to ensure all staff are incorporating values and techniques of engagement to address personhood, program and physical setting. Evaluates PCC practices of staff and monitors training needs.
- Supervises the day to day activity of the assigned areas, ensuring all departmental and organization policies and procedures are adhered to and patient concerns are addressed. Responsible for ensuring department is effective, efficient and operates with a positive sense of teamwork.
- Makes daily decisions on staffing needs, program structure and safety. Ensures schedules and created and posted in a timely manner.
- Confers and collaborates with all members of interdisciplinary team not limited to MD's, nurses, rehab therapists, dietitians, social workers and aide staff in addition to individuals outside center who are members of participant’s care team.
- Oversees all programming for adult day and adult day health programs including individual and group activities designed to enhance patients’ sense of dignity, contribution and self-worth.
- Patient assessment, development of individualized plan of care, plan implementation, plan monitoring and documentation. Therapeutic goals and objectives will be person-centered and designed to maximize independence and self-esteem.
- Oversees activities of assigned interns and volunteers to ensure safety and opportunity to provide purposeful support to program staff.
- Stays current in adult day program recreational therapy trends and demonstrates continuing growth in position through education, in-service training and staff meetings.
- Responsible for overall Center décor to reflect seasons, holidays and themes.
- Responsible for ensuring patients’ cultural and ethnic traditions are valued and appropriately celebrated.
- Develops annual departmental goals addressing quality assurance, regulatory compliance and patient outcomes.
- Maintains department in compliance with all applicable Dignity Health, local, state, federal and grant requirements.
- Schedules training and presents in-services, as required or needed, to staff, participants, student interns and volunteers.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Have two (2) years experience in social services, recreation or educational program and minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory role
- Bachelor's Degree
Preffered:
- Previous work with adults and elderly preferred.
- Prefer experience supervising a team comprised of more than 10 individuals.
Bachelor's in Recreation/Therapeutic Recreation preferred.
Licensure:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.
- Valid Class C California Driver's License and clear DMV driving record.
