Overview

Assists in the delivery of patient care and performance of established tasks and procedures under the supervision of a physically present and immediately available Registered Nurse/ OB Provider. Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization.  This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm


Responsibilities
  • Must be able to perform the following tasks efficiently: perform/record vital signs, CPR, assist provider with treatment when appropriate, clean medical equipment and prepare for sterilization, collect urine specimens, and phlebotomy
  • Assists in making observations, gathering data, and identifying patient care needs
  • Assists with patient transports and transfers
  • Answer telephones, filing, greet patients/visitors, transcribe provider’s orders, electronic data entry, and assist with documentation
  • Assists with cleaning, stocking, and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
  • Practices safe work habits, compliance with safety rules and regulations, and adheres to safety policies
  • Utilizes resources appropriately and follows facility guidelines, policies, and procedures

Qualifications

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the ND Department of Health, mandatory. 
  • Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Minimum Experience

  • No experience required

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong oral communications skills
  • Ability to deal with conflict and difficult people
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of all regulatory agencies and their standards and processes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

PREFERRED Education and/or Experience

  • OB Unit CNA experience preferred
