Responsibilities

The Ultrasonographer II position provides diagnostic information to referring physicians using ultrasound as a diagnostic tool, as well as participates in the activities which occur because the Virginia Mason Ultrasound Department is a clinical training center for physicians, student interns and sonographers; and an evaluation site for new imaging devices being developed by major commercial vendors. Under the direction of the Ultrasound manager and/or Manager at a Regional Medical Center, this position coordinates the day-to-day operations of Ultrasound to ensure efficiency, highest possible quality care and service to patients. In this job position, provide diagnostic imaging information to referring providers using ultrasound as a diagnostic tool. Due to the complexity of the types of ultrasound exams and highest level of independent imaging judgement, the Ultrasonographer II level medical sonographer is expected to be fully competent in all exam types and levels of ultrasound scanning

Qualifications

Ultrasonographer II position requires:
1) Graduation from an ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP); and,
2) Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty area of Abdomen or OB/Gyn ultrasound; and,
3) Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT); and,
4) 2 years of clinical Ultrasound experience

Additional ARDMS registration in either Abdomen, OB/GYN and/or the Breast Ultrasound Specialty within second year of employment.

Maintenance of thirty continuing medical education credits every three years is required.

Preferred: A four-year college degree, concentration in ultrasound.
