Responsibilities

Provides information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses in a timely fashion.

Minimum Hire Rate:  $42.10/hr

Qualifications

We Require:

Baccalaureate degree in medical technology from a program or institution accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency required.

Alternative Baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency, or an equivalent degree from a foreign institution as certified by a foreign transcript evaluation agency approved by AMT, and shall have completed at least 35 semester hours of coursework across various subjects related to the clinical laboratory sciences, such as biological science, microbiology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics, etc., and shall have either:


· Completed an accredited medical technology training program following the earning of the baccalaureate degree referenced above, or
· Completed a minimum of one year of approved clinical laboratory experience

This position requires a background in one or more of the following laboratory disciplines: chemistry, hematology, microbiology, phlebotomy, blood bank, and biological sciences and an understanding of quality control concepts and general laboratory techniques.  The ability to attend to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to work under stressful working conditions, understanding of laboratory safety issues, excellent communication skills, and accurate documentation.

Also the position requires an understanding of healthcare regulations, good interpersonal, teamwork, problem solving skills, data entry and computer operation skills, and critical judgment skills.

A Registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologist - MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), categorical ASCP (M, H, or C) or equivalent is required for this position.

A newly graduated Medical Technologist may be hired with the requirement that if they do not pass an accredited Registry Exam for Medical Technology within three months of hire, their employment will end. After a sufficient orientation period, each Medical Technologist must be able to competently perform all testing procedures and processes as outlined in the Procedure Manual(s) in the laboratory section(s) in which they will be performing testing.

Experience preferred, but not required.
