Position Summary:

Mission Hope Cancer Center is an accredited comprehensive cancer care and treatment center, serving a large diverse population here on the Central Coast. Our specialized care team provides personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. As the Senior Director Nursing Oncology, you will lead the Medical and Surgical Oncology practices and support the day to day operations of two Oncology Clinics located in Santa Maria, CA and Arroyo Grande, CA, with future plans to build a new comprehensive cancer center in San Luis Obispo, CA.. In collaboration with your team, and partnership across our many specialties, you will drive to develop, continually improve and promote quality standards of care while ensuring an excellent patient experience for all patients. This leader will also be responsible for the financial management of the clinics and partner with Philanthropy to assist with developing funding opportunities for oncology services. Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Plans, directs, executes and evaluates the strategy, business, financial and clinical operations of the Cancer Program/Cancer Center. Develops an organizational structure and culture to optimize the patient experience, development of staff, work environment and use of equipment. Establishes a collaborative environment with open lines of communication to ensure quality monitoring, continuous improvement and life-long learning.
  • Plans, develops and implements the vision and strategy for the cancer service line. Identifies industry trends and opportunities to build programs and services through community collaborations. Represents the organization locally and nationwide in the community, media and government. Creates open channels of communication with all levels of management and staff across multiple service lines throughout the company.
  • Works with physicians, hospital leadership, and staff members to facilitate multidisciplinary program development and implementation. Implements and evaluates the cancer program’s services and projects.
  • Creates, executes and evaluates long term strategic business plans and marketing plans across the Cancer service line. Collaborates with business partners to build relationships and strategic alliances within the Corporation and within the local and regional communities and to grow and build new services and programs.
  • Develops long term budgets to support strategic initiatives of the cancer service line. Forecasts, prepares, and monitors operating and capital budgets and revenue cycle. Plans, coordinates and executes the annual budget process. Leads supervisors, managers and directors to manage variances and to achieve budget goals.
  • Establishes performance standards, benchmarks and controls. Facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of cancer programs and services, including translational research and clinical trials. Sets the organizational structure in the cancer service line. Acts as a role model and provides leadership, coaching, development and mentoring to staff management.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (e.g. BSN) or equivalent education and experience, and Master's degree in nursing or other-related field (e.g., MSN/MBA/MHA) required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience and three (3) years of nurse leadership experience required.
Required Licensure: 
  • Registered Nursing License (RN) in CA required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of progressive, responsible leadership experience with at least five (5) years in an oncology environment preferred.
