Responsibilities

The Obstetrical Technician supports the nursing staff by performing basic nursing care procedures, acting as a scrub technician for surgical procedures, and managing various clerical tasks. This role requires adaptability, prioritization skills, and effective communication with staff, patients, physicians, and visitors. The Obstetrical Technician plays a key role in ensuring patient care and unit operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist nursing staff with basic patient care procedures and provide support during surgical procedures as a scrub technician.
  • Perform clerical duties and maintain organized, secure access to equipment and procedural areas.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and initiative in managing workload and prioritize tasks based on patient and unit needs.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, physicians, and visitors while upholding hospital and unit policies and procedures.
  • Participate in unit and hospital quality improvement initiatives and maintain required certifications for employment.

Qualifications
  • 1 year surgical scrub experience OR graduate of a Surgical Technician Program.
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program OR 1 year surgical scrub experience.
  • Functional knowledge of a computer keyboard
  • Functional knowledge of aseptic technique • Functional knowledge of surgery instrumentation 
  • Basic anatomy and physiology 
  • Medical Terminology
