Responsibilities
The Clinical Educator – Certified Medical Assistant is a vital member of the Dignity Health Medical Foundation Professional Development (Clinical Education) team. In partnership with other members of the Clinical Excellence department this position will plan and facilitate educational programs for Dignity Health Medical Foundation Medical Assistants (MA). Through new employee orientation one-to-one coaching competency evaluations and ongoing education opportunities the Clinical Educator – CMA will work to improve job knowledge for DHMF MAs enhance MA skills and encourage a high level of excellence for Clinician and patient support. This position will provide training and hands-on assessments of new hire Medical Assistants. The position will also work with Clinical Excellence leadership to train and develop Medical Assistant leads and preceptors.Although the Clinical Educator Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is an individual contributor the role must partner actively with MAs throughout all Clinics within DHMF. The position will report directly to the Manager of Clinical Education (Professional Development) and may expect to travel up to 25% per month throughout the State of California.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma
2 years in ambulatory physician practice setting required
Current Medical Assistant Certification through one of the agencies approved by DHMF (must be certified through AMT, AAMA, CCBMA, or NCCT)
Current American Heart Association issued Basic Life Support (BLS)
Language Skills: Fluent English required.
Must be able to speak clearly and have the ability to hear students in a one on one and classroom setting.
Ability to present information in a clear and concise format to various audience levels in classroom.
Preferred
Strongly preferred MAs with Phlebotomy Certification; administration of inhaled medication training and PPD Skin Test Reading and documentation training.
Education or precepting experience preferred.
Multi-language skills preferred.
Knowledge of instructional skills and adult learning theory educational techniques and methodologies.
