Responsibilities

The System Manager Real Estate Finance is a member of the National Real Estate organization and is responsible for ensuring/managing the quality, content, and integrity of financial budgets, forecasts, business plans, and long-term operational spend strategies. This position will interact with internal Real Estate teams as well as operations personnel across the CommonSpirit Health to support senior leaders in their fiscal operating performance. This is position will supervise a team of Financial Analysts who work directly with the NRES leaders to forecast, review, and report on all Real Estate operational spend across all CommonSpirit Health. In addition, the position will be responsible for reviewing and providing financial forecasts support and analysis for the CommonSpirit Health National Real Estate department in the overall management of the company’s financial effectiveness process.

  • Responsible for managing strategic operational finance related activities to support National Real Estate while coordinating financial planning with other National Real Estate resources, and National FP&A.
  • Operating Budgets: Developing, updating, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting on Operating budgets across the entire NRES platform.
  • Supervises financial analysts who work directly with National Real Estate teams to understand their operational spend, forecast,  and financial health
  • Responsible for completing and presenting a formal monthly budget summary and variance report to the CommonSpirit Health National Real Estate Team as well as reporting associated with year-end analysis, year-end projections, and other special reports.
  • Oversees budget, forecast, and long-range planning submissions from the National Real Estate teams.
  • Collaborates with other users and leadership team members to understand operating processes and makes system performance improvement recommendations.
  • Utilizes knowledge of Lawson, and other software programs to support findings and make recommendations to NRES teams.
  • Supports NRES teams in purchasing and accounts payable issues. Works with internal CommonSpirit Health departments to resolve ongoing data issues and monitors resolutions.
  • Participates weekly, monthly and quarterly on reporting, as well as annual operational planning initiative with department and system leaders.
  • Assists in identification and implementation of key metrics utilizing current system software, external benchmarks, and internal data, by identifying important trends and variances through the review of management reports and financial analysis.
  • Provides guidance to project financial analysts on the team.
  • Other job-related duties or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration and/or equivalent experience required.  Experience (7+ years): experience working with multiple systems, project management applications, reporting systems and accounting systems; experience in construction projects and working with project management teams; and experience and knowledge of accounting/finance terminology & reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. 

Healthcare or hospital experience is strongly preferred

MBA and/or CPA are preferred, but not required

Advanced working knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel proficiency required). Google Workspace experience a plus.

Requires an excellent working knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting. Substantial experience in fiscal and/or project analysis

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize, coordinate and analyze complex data.

Understand and exercise proficiency in each of the identified accounting disciplines.

Maintain knowledge of current accounting practices and trends to assist in providing recommendations for process improvements for the business

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building-skills, with the ability to communicate up, down and across levels of the organization

Proven ability to prioritize multiple complex projects, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced service-oriented environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently, multi-task and also work in a team environment.
