This leadership position contributes to the fulfillment of CommonSpirit Health's mission and values by supporting nursing education and clinical strategy, driving excellence and value across the continuum of care. Provides leadership, direction and focus for nursing and clinical education throughout a designated area. Under the leadership of the Region Director, provides oversight of evidence-based practice and the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of activities for nursing designed to support the National Nursing Strategy, regional initiatives and goals and objectives. Works to ensure consistent and effective delivery of education programs that meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Responsibilities
Market Director-Clinical Education
Location: Papillion, NE
- Oversee the strategic and operational work of the clinical education department, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and the achievement of measurable outcomes. Employ systems thinking approaches to identify and address challenges and opportunities.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for clinical education across the markets, aligning with organizational quality, safety, practice standards, and workforce goals. This includes integrating regulatory requirements across diverse geographical locations and fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion.
- Engage key stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration in the development and implementation of initiatives.
- Develop, review, and maintain the departmental budget, ensuring effective stewardship of resources and operating within established fiscal targets. Actively participate in the development of the overall departmental budget.
- Direct the creation, implementation, and delivery of clinical education and training programs, including onboarding, ongoing professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives, creating standardized structures and processes to ensure sustained improvement. Manage and oversee these programs, ensuring standard, consistent quality and effectiveness across all sites.
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing programs based on data analysis, feedback, and best practices, ensuring programs remain relevant, effective, and aligned with evolving needs.
- Manage the clinical education department across multi-markets, providing leadership, guidance, and support to foster a high-performing and collaborative work environment. Promote professional growth through mentorship, performance management, and ongoing development opportunities.
- Communicates the work of the Education teams with VPPCs/CNOs across the Market(s) to ensure timely attention to important initiatives and issues.
- Integrate multiple site settings into a cohesive and standardized approach to nursing education, addressing unique needs and challenges while maintaining consistency across the organization.
- Support academic mission through oversight of relationships with partnering colleges throughout the markets.
- Assume responsibility for personal and professional growth through active participation in professional organizations, continuing education programs, in-service training, and relevant meetings. Maintain required mandatory education certifications.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor’s degree in Nursing plus Master’s Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, techniques, protocols and tools/equipment relating to clinical education and nursing practice in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of adult learning theory. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards.
