Job Details
At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body mind and spirit of every person in a more comfortable less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.
Responsibilities
- Concurrently reviews all trauma cases to identify quality, timeliness and systems issues in the care of trauma patients, in order to meet state standards, departmental needs and administrative agendas.
- Participates in daily rounds, trauma discharge rounds, serves as a liaison, and collaborates with all departments involved in the care of the trauma patient.
- Monitors sentinel events, deaths, transfers, complications, hospital length of stay, adherence to protocols and standards.
- Provides analytical support to the trauma program and its leadership by developing monthly control charts, trending analysis, report cards and dashboards.
- Prepares records for and collaboratively develops reports, agendas and presentations for trauma performance committee meetings, Trauma PI/PS, Trauma M&M, OPIC, and Quality Committees as assigned.
- Maintains Outcomes database with support from the Trauma Program Manager.
- Facilitates the resolution of systems problems and monitors for recurrences in direct collaboration with the Trauma Outreach Coordinator, Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Registry.
- Communicates with referring institutions/providers, and reports all quality improvement issues and discharge status.
- Participates as an active member of nursing unit trauma-specific committees.
- Liaison with nursing staff and residency house staff for requests for trauma registry data.
- Actively participates in nursing research related to the traumatically injured patient.
- Actively participates in strategic planning for the trauma division.
Qualifications
Minimum: BSN
Valid nursing license
Preferred: MSN
Experience in research and quality improvement, and facilitating and motivating performance improvement teams. Experience with computer programs and creating presentations and charting.
