Provides psychosocial, educational and support services to patients, families, significant others and staff facing the impact of a cancer diagnosis throughout the cancer continuum. Coordinates all aspects of cancer support services through various professional modalities including supportive counseling for the individual and family to assist with lifestyle adaptation and changes due to the cancer experiences, service coordination, interdisciplinary team collaboration, support group facilitation and linking to community resources and agency collaboration. Works closely with other CHI Health cancer psychosocial support team members.
Responsibilities
- Provides psychosocial assessment of cancer patient needs in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Utilizes a wide range of clinical interventions to address patients' psychosocial and financial needs.
- Provides oncology social work services in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
- Reviews all psychosocial distress evaluations in outpatient oncology areas. Follows up on appropriate patients as designated by screening parameters to address any patient needs.
- Provides referrals and documents interventions relative to psychosocial distress screening. Assists with data collection for reporting purposes.
- Develops and facilitates cancer support groups/programs to address specific cancer patient population needs.
- Provides education and consultation to other disciplines and staff regarding the psychosocial and emotional needs of cancer patients. Available for staff support related to personal and/or family cancer or other experiences.
- Participates in professional activities relative to oncology social work and oncology related services and programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Education for Staff Job Levels | Master’s Degree in Social Work. Two years of healthcare social work experience, preferably Oncology. |
Required Licensure and Certifications | NE State Certification (CMSW) Certified Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Master Social Worker (LCSW), or NE State Certification (CSW Certified Social Worker). |
