Overview

As our OB Technician at CHI Health’s Lakeside Hospital, you’ll prepare the operating room for a variety of surgeries in our Labor and Delivery unit. We can’t operate without you.

Lakeside Labor and Delivery department has 10 birthing beds and  14 postpartum rooms.  We have a team of nurses, midwives, Family Medicine, OB/GYN physicians and MFM caring for normal to high risk pregnancies.  We deliver over 1,000 babies a year and are part of CommonSpirit Health which operates 139 hospitals and more than 1,000 care sites across 21 states, making our services accessible to nearly 1 in 4 U.S. residents.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the admission discharge and transfer process of patients.
  • Set up tables instruments and supplies required for cesarean sections vaginal deliveries and circumcisions; maintaining sterile technique.
  • Respond to patient calls anticipate their needs and assure their safety and comfort through regular rounds environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures.
  • Maintain appropriate stock and equipment inventories in the department and patient rooms.
  • Assist in the preparation and draping of the patient and operative area.
  • Prepare pass and maintain a correct count of instruments sutures sponges and supplies utilized during the operative procedure.
  • Maintain surgical instruments by ensuring proper washing packaging sterilization and storage.

Qualifications

We are offering a $5,000 Sign on bonus to new hires who meet the following eligibility requirements.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • One of the following are required:
    • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
    • Completion of an accredited medical personnel program such as but not limited to CNA, MA, LPN, EMT I / II, or SPD tech and willing to do on the job training with a structured competency regimen.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, surgical supplies and equipment, medical and surgical asepsis and infection control principles.
  • 1 year experience, preferred.
