Our Children Assault Treatment Services Department is seeking an RN who specializes in care of sexual assault and domestic violence patients. You will conduct forensic interviews physical assessment of sexual assault victims and domestic violence victims collection of evidence and documentation of examination findings on the State of California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Forensic Medical Report form.

Responsibilities
- Adheres to established Hospital/departmental policies and procedures objectives Quality Assessment and Improvement Program legal safety environmental infection control standards Nurse Practices Act and Patient's Bill of Rights.
- Responsible for the physical assessment of sexual assault and domestic violence victims.
- Responsible for the collection documentation and packaging of forensic evidence for analysis by the Los Angeles City or Los Angeles County Crime Lab.
- Responsible for the provision of information and referrals regarding health concerns related to assault and domestic violence.
- Provide expert testimony in the area of sexual assault and domestic violence in a court of law
- Interact professionally with local law enforcement officers County social workers the City Attorney's Office and the District Attorney's office.
- Completes the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) form as well as obtaining consents completing the CATS/SART Progress Record and patient after care instructions.
- Maintains close working relationship with the Program Director/Supervisor and members of other disciplines involved in care of sexual assault and domestic violence patients.
- Appropriately maintains accurate records.
- Submits work schedule of time available to Program Director/Supervisor as necessary to facilitate on-call and shift schedule.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience as RN with emphasis on assessment required.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 1 year acute care experience required.
- Current and Active CA RN License required.
- Training in sexual assault examinations required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (AHA BLS).
- LA City Fire Card (obtain within 90 days of hire) required.
This position is represented by SEIU L121RN and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
