Program Description
As a CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident, you will be supported professionally and emotionally by a network of expert nurses who act as teachers, preceptors, mentors, and educators. The Nurse Residency Program is a total of 12 months, including an 18 week clinical immersion experience with a trained preceptor. The nurse resident will experience the true meaning of interdisciplinary care via clinical rotations with departments such as Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Lab, Physical Therapy, Wound Care, Radiology, Cath Lab, and Rapid Response.
The program begins with a three week schedule consisting of eight hour days, five days per week. This time includes didactic, simulation, and hands-on skills training. The new nurse resident will then move to three 12 hour shifts with a dedicated preceptor in their unit of hire, with an additional four hours of online and didactic content throughout the remainder of the 12 month program.
