Responsibilities

Job Summary: 

  • Under the supervision of the Facilities Operations Manager and Director, this individual will perform maintenance painting and finish work on furniture, cabinets, etc. and other related work as required.
  • Complete materials request form for all parts promptly when it has been determined that they are needed for repair.
  • Assist maintenance, plant, and carpentry personnel as dictated by overall engineering department workload.
  • Determine possible pollution threats due to paint disposal.
  • Dispose all thinner and solvents and Is familiar with premixed paints or premixed paints or prepares paints to match specified colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, thinner, and drying substances.
  • As required, rigs staging or erects scaffolding. Spread cloth or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from splattered paint. Prepares wall and installs paper or vinyl plastic wall coverings.
  • May perform and or all of the following; Cut stencils, and stencil surfaces with lettering or decorations, paints signs on such surfaces as cloth, bulletin boards, walls, doors windows, and equipment. Papers walls and ceilings, refinishes furniture and fixtures, applies and repairs plaster on interior and exterior walls of buildings. Repairs surfaces to be plastered according to type of finished job required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of four (4 ) years current experience as painter required.
  • Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Must have good vision and acuity; must understand the characteristics of different types of paint, varnishes, finishes, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of wall coverings and various types of brushes, rollers and paint sprays.
  • Must be computer literate (basic skills): Microsoft Outlook (e-mail) and Work Order system (will teach in-house).
  • AUTO:CA Insurance.
  • FIRESAFETY - within 90 Days.

Preferred/Desired:

  • Preferable some technical training, more experience would be considered in lieu of technical training.
  • Experience in healthcare/nursing homes.
