Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the daily supervision, workflow coordination and technical aspects of assigned imaging modality. Coordinates scheduling of staff to maintain adequate coverage. Provides orientation, instruction and assistance to staff and students. Involved in quality control, safety education/enforcement, and policy management. Supports hospital and department goals, standards, principles and practices. Works collaboratively with the imaging manager regarding budget guidelines and reporting, capital recommendations, inventory control, purchasing and equipment maintenance. Recommends various personnel actions of assigned staff. Along with the manager completes annual performance evaluations. Assists with accreditation renewals, regulatory processes and inspections. May perform imaging procedures and operate specialized equipment.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effective customer service is a priority. Promptly acknowledges & Assists all patients/family, visitors, staff & physicians. Advocates a professional demeanor & positive communication at all times. Certain issues are referred to or discussed with superiors.
  • Supervises assigned modality & Coordinates scheduling of staff & patients to maintain a steady workflow & minimize delays. Assigns tasks, Assists, coaches or instructs employees to ensure efficient daily operations. Performs imaging procedures as necessary.
  • Provides positive leadership & communicates effectively with clinical & support teams. Supports hospital & department goals.
  • Provides orientation & instruction to imaging students & new employees; Participates in required inservices & training.
  • Enforces staff adherence to established safety standards, including adequate protection against radiation/magnetic fields; completes incident reports of employee & patient accidents.
  • Actively involved in quality control monitoring, implementation of best practices and policy enforcement. Assists with accreditation renewals, regulatory processes & state inspections.
  • Recommends hiring, discharge, changes in job responsibilities, etc. of assigned staff. Responsible for daily time, attendance & reporting; conducts annual performance evaluations.
  • Working with the imaging manager, promotes fiscal responsibility, adhering to budget constraints. Maintains records & submits statistical reports.
  • Oversees inventory levels for clinical & non‐clinical supplies. Orders stock or notifies manager of necessary purchases; Maintains inventory/supply records; may recommend purchases of new or additional equipment.
  • Notifies management of equipment malfunction or required maintenance. Contacts maintenance department or outside service personnel.

Qualifications

Education and Licensure:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (R)(MR); must maintain as current (required)
  • Certified by State of Texas  – MRT; must maintain as current (required)
  • BLS certification (required)

Experience:

  • One (1) year of experience in discipline with degree OR Three (3) years of experience in discipline OR Master’s degree and no experience
