Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Supervisor Manager Director and Medical Director the Medical Technologist performs clinical testing in one or more of the following areas: blood bank chemistry/serology hematology/urinalysis/ coagulation microbiology and/or Point of Care Testing. The Technologist obtains or receives specimens performs laboratory tests according to written procedures understands methods and principles performs and evaluates quality control on a daily basis and informs the Supervisor or Laboratory Manager of problems. The technologist performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation and interprets results as to their accuracy acceptability and critical limits and organizing work to meet established deadlines and record all data obtained. The technologist is also responsible for instruction of MT and MLT students. S/he will meet the department's scheduling needs which may include on-call technologist coverage.


Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • At least two years experience as Medical Technologist.
  • May consider less experience for entry level position as determined by manager.
  • B.S. degree in Medical Technology or related field of study.
  • LIC CLT =Licensed Clinical Lab Tech - State is required. Must meet the State of Nevada requirement for national certification. 
  • Able to work independently read and analyze technical material and to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. 
  • Must be able to handle and process confidential information.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to understand and practice unique infant/child adolescent and geriatric population differences and to effectively meet those needs as they related to patient handling specimen processing and collection.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Generalist experience with strong background in blood bank chemistry hematology coagulation microbiology/serology is desirable.
  •  Prefer MT (ASCP) but an equivalent national certification is acceptable.
  •  Preferably licensed as a General Supervisor of Licensed Laboratory.
