Job Summary / Purpose
The System Manager, Data Engineering is accountable for the design, implementation, maintenance, integration and support of the data repository systems and related data marts that are the foundation of CommonSpirit Health’s Payer Strategy, Analytics & Innovation capability. The System Manager, Data Engineering oversees complex data design and the creation and maintenance of database architecture and data repositories. This leader plays a critical role in ensuring proper balance between front-end systems and back-end processing capabilities while installing processes for auditing data repositories and ensuring data quality. This role manages the performance of a team of Data Engineers and ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met while adhering to approved budgets. Additionally, the System Manager, Data Engineering is responsible for developing and governing the data to support the information strategy that drives business decisions and growth initiatives, to include translating data into reports, presentations and communications for PSR leadership.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and manage technical team of Data Engineers.
- Oversee collection, storage, management, quality and security of Payer Strategy & Relationships (PSR) data.
- Design, develop, implement, and coordinate data systems, policies, and procedures supporting data analytics, reporting, and information management.
- Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions to remedy.
- Implement data privacy policies and comply with data protection regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant application, solutions and tools and make suggestions as appropriate.
- Manage multiple high priority, high profile projects simultaneously related to ongoing evolution and implementation of technology.
- Use programming and technical expertise to provide solutions and suggestions to advance the PSR data needs.
- Translate data into information for senior leadership reports, presentations, and communications.
- Lead the effort to support PSR to continuously improve upon the current work/business processes to achieve high levels of efficiency.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related technical field. Education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.Minimum of three (3) years of technical leadership experience.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of Information Technology (IT) experience in a fast-paced, complex business environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of technical leadership experience.
- Experience in healthcare
Strongly Preferred Experience
- Experience in payer contract analysis and payer process preferred
- Experience with healthcare claims and remit data preferred
- Experience in medical and billing data preferred
- Working knowledge of Python, JavaScript, C# or R preferred
- Working knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, and SAS preferred
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong leadership skills working with multi-dimensional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail in high pressure situations.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Proven working experience as an IT/Technical/Informatics Manager.
- Knowledge of all phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from user engagement through post-implementation evaluation.
- Successful experience working with ETL concepts such as data integration, consolidation, enrichment and aggregation.
- Proven experience with SQL server database administration, integration services, analysis services and T/SQL query language.
- Experience working with relational databases and architectures.
- Knowledge of SQL, SSIS, PowerShell scripting, SSAS, SSRS, and Replication.
- Experience with Microsoft development tools and technologies included:
- SQL Server 2008 R2/2012/2014/2016
- Google Suite, MS Word
