Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 384-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California. Responsibilities
MMercy San Juan Medical Center (MSJMC) offers an exciting opportunity to create and lead a new Family Medicine Residency Program. The Program Director will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the program, ensuring full compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements. This position requires dynamic leadership in curriculum development, resident supervision, and clinical care oversight, fostering an environment of excellence in education and clinical training.
- Organize and oversee all activities of the residency program in accordance with ACGME Program and Common Program Requirements.
- Ensure program graduates meet certification eligibility requirements for the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
- Prepare and maintain accurate statistical and narrative reports for the Review Committee (RRC).
- Update program and resident records annually using the ACGME accreditation data system.
- Implement fair policies, grievance procedures, and due process in accordance with institutional guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with licensing and regulatory requirements, including those of CMS, The Joint Commission, the Medical Board of California, and the California Department of Public Health.
- Direct clinical activities within the program to ensure high-quality, cost-effective services.
- Maintain an active clinical practice, not exceeding 600 hours annually, to ensure clinical competency.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- General education in a health-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MD with current or pending certification by the American Board of Family Medicine.
- Minimum of 2 years in an accredited teaching program with experience in both inpatient and outpatient family medicine practice.
- Previous experience as a Family Medicine Residency Program Director is strongly preferred.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in word processing and communication software.
- Knowledge of clinical practice laws, ethics, and ACGME requirements for graduate medical education.
- Familiarity with ACGME requirements, ABFM standards, and California licensure regulations.
