Overview

The network includes more than 30 ambulatory clinics featuring primary care Express Clinics and imaging and diagnostic services.

Responsible for the strategic planning, financial oversight, operational management and direction of all laboratory functions within the assigned market in order to meet the mission, vision and values of the organization. Facilitates collaboration within the market and with other markets within the region and leverages support from the region director and national laboratory services to achieve and maintain standards of performance. Serves as the Administrative Director of Laboratory Services for the assigned facility, overseeing the 24-hour day-to-day operations. Directs, plans, organizes and implements strategies, and initiatives to enhance and support the operations of the clinical laboratories to ensure high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations.


Responsibilities
  1. Direct management of Market hospital Lab Directors/Managers.
  2. Assists the region Director in the planning and implementation of System and region initiatives. Responsible for integration of laboratory testing in the Market and in accordance with system standards.
  3. Assures the implementation of policies and procedures for Market laboratories in concurrence with national policies and procedures and standards and according to regulatory agencies.
  4. Assures laboratories in the Market are in compliance with supply and purchased services contracts.
  5. Represents the Market’s or region’s best interests as a voting member for any work groups, councils or committees. Participates in other CSH national laboratory efforts as required.
  6. Direct management of the assigned hospital laboratory with responsibility for all laboratory operations.
  7. Remains knowledgeable on new technologies, methods and approaches within the laboratory community
  8. Stays informed on and quickly ensures compliance with changes to regulatory and state requirements.
  9. Develops monitoring systems to improve quality; initiates corrective action plans, and monitors results.
  10. Evaluates existing systems and processes and develops corrective action plans for service/quality trends identified 
  11. Ensures prompt and effective resolution of quality, regulatory, or service concerns.
  12. Responsible for equipment oversight, maintenance, and procurement in accordance with region, system and regulatory standards.
  13. Directs and evaluates staff activities and provides coaching, guidance, delegation opportunities, and on-the-job training and re-training as necessary to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies and procedures; fosters open communication by offering, encouraging, and accepting suggestions from staff regarding department operations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

5-7 years leading people

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent education preferred.  

Seven (7) years of laboratory management experience. History of overseeing multiple laboratories preferred.

Tennessee: MT-L:TN

Where state license not required:

MT or CLS or MLS certification required, ASCP or equivalent (per requirement sheet)

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abililties and Training:

Job duties require considerable knowledge of the specialized principles and practices related to health care management

Skilled in Google Suite of business tools preferred
