Overview

The supervisor leads the daily operations of the PT/OT/SLP department(s) or clinic, as well as other related clinical areas (i.e., cardiac rehab, etc.) as applicable to the location. With a focus on specialty sports, college athletes, and high school and college athletes, the therapy supervisor, supported by the therapy manager, is responsible for resource allocation and organizational policies. This includes organizing and staffing patient care services within the scope of services offered and ensuring the provision of high-quality care.

The therapy supervisor is responsible for patient care duties at a level congruent with the operational needs of the department(s) or clinic, with a particular emphasis on addressing the needs of athletes at various levels of competition. This role also involves maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in line with the guidelines of the State of Texas Board of Examiners for Occupational Therapy.

Additionally, the therapy supervisor ensures that services are delivered in compliance with CommonSpirit Health's mission, ethical standards, and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise clinical staff, rehabilitation techs, students, and office staff with respect and consistency.
  • Manage daily assignments, monthly schedules, and vacation scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels and productivity.
  • Handle recruitment, hiring, scheduling, performance feedback, and evaluations, including disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee clinical development, orientation, competency assessment, ongoing education, and ensure 100% licensure compliance.
  • Supervise front office operations for efficient scheduling, insurance verification, registration, authorization, and patient flow.
  • Collect and analyze data to improve service quality and foster a continuous improvement culture.
  • Manage labor distribution productivity, supply expenditures, and patient satisfaction data.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, and federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain effective communication with physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, and families, addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Foster professional development and deliver quality therapy services as needed.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree; Major in Kinesiology/Exercise Science or other Physical Therapy related field
  • 2 years of clinical experience

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Licensed by the State of Texas- Physical Therapist

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Card
