Responsibilities
Coordinates international/destination patient services for Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. Serves as the liaison between patients, physicians, nursing, allied health, support staff, to ensure care is coordinated and culturally attuned. Facilitates and coordinates payment arrangements, billing, medical records transmissions, translation services (if needed) and appointment services for patient. Provides travel information as needed for patient and patient advocate (transportation, lodging, etc.). Works with leaders to develop program components and pathways to deliver effective care and patient experience. Works with marketing team to develop outreach and positioning opportunities and tactics to a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Supports initiatives of the BNI Outreach & Patient Navigation department to facilitate and improve patient care, support, and coordination.
- Receives and reviews requests for patient care from international, regional, and statewide patients or their referring physicians, clarifies the patient's condition, gathers necessary medical records and images, and presents the requests to the appropriate physicians and clinicians. Facilitates follow-up communications with patient.
- Identifies and initiates referrals for appropriate, interdisciplinary care.
- When the patient arrives and begins care, serves as the liaison between the patient, their physicians, and the hospital nursing, allied health, and other members of the greater care team.
- Offers seamless direct patient coordination, guidance, education, and serves as a primary resource for questions and navigating entire treatment plan.
- Provides ongoing patient follow up, calls, and visits during ongoing care and hospitalizations, as well as emotional/psychosocial support to the patient and patient's advocates (family members, etc.)
- Offers patient appropriate bundles/packaged pricing and works with financial office to provide/address anticipated cost of services that will be rendered and connectivity with patient's payment arrangements - including self-pay, insurance products, etc.
- Assists in development of bundles.
- Assists in development of access protocols and pathway processes.
- Identifies and develops internal and external stakeholders to facilitate destination processes.
- Works collaboratively with both functions to inform strategies and develop innovative and best-in-class messaging, tactics, outreach materials and programs, messaging.
- Helps identify potential referrals sources and markets.
- Public face of program in market development opportunities with affinity audiences and potential patients.

Qualifications
MINIMUM
Bachelor's degree Nursing
5 years recent acute care experience
8+ years of clinical and operations experience
Interpersonal communications or equivalent
Able to speak read and write fluently in English.
Strong communication skills both on the phone and in-person to effectively interpret and convey complex clinical and financial information to a variety of audiences.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively navigate a matrix administrative clinical and medical organizational structure.
Complex problem solving strong analytical skills ability to deal with ambiguity.
Computer skills and ability to use hospital billing and record systems.
Arizona Registered Nurse (RN)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
PREFERRED
3+ years in patient-facing clinical program development
3+ years in clinical liaison work interacting with advocating for and troubleshooting patient pathways in a complex medical environment.
Strong working knowledge of clinical back office operations including patient billing interfacing with providers to manage claims and revenue recognition.
