This position is located at the CommonSpirit Core Laboratory in Scottsdale, AZ
Job Summary / Purpose
Directs the laboratory services performed at the national Reference Laboratory located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Directs, plans, organizes and implements strategies, and initiatives to enhance and support the operations of the clinical laboratories to ensure high quality, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Establishes and implements policies and procedures for the laboratory in concurrence with national policies and procedures. Accountable for regulatory compliance with CLIA and CAP standards. Provides direction to department personnel to achieve operational and technical objectives including workflow design, service quality, financial performance, regulatory compliance, personnel management, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Directs all laboratory services and support services for the CommonSpirit Reference Laboratory in accordance with CSH policies, procedures and regulatory agencies. Responsible for integration and test menu optimization of laboratory testing for all facilities. Manages staff to include hires, terminations, employee development, mentoring and performance management.
- Directs short and long term strategies for CSH reference testing.
- Directs process improvements initiatives and manages projects to develop and implement solutions for superior quality and operational efficiencies.
- Prepares and is accountable for the fiscal year laboratory budget(s).
- Ensures appropriate acquisition and maintenance of technical equipment.
- Serves as a role model and promotes CSH values and mission. Actively participates in customer satisfaction and provides leadership to peers and subordinates.
- Provide superior communication with all CSH laboratories as is related to the reference laboratory
- Participates in other CSH national laboratory efforts as required.

Qualifications
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Five (5) years of progressive laboratory services experience in all levels of the Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Sciences, of which three (3) of those years with an emphasis on management of a medical laboratory.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent. Master’s Degree desirable.Experience in a reference laboratory desirable.
- Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
