Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Responsible for leading, planning, and implementing the enterprise-wide ambulatory access operations strategy across all Regions, ensuring alignment with CommonSpirit Health mission and strategic objectives. Leads transformational change to optimize access and deliver operational best practice. The System Director will carry responsibility for sustaining a patient centric philosophy by supporting Regional Directors in the interpretation and implementation of the strategic plan to operationalize and scale Patient Connection Centers across CommonSpirit Health. Responsible for leading National access operations and on-going improvement and change-management for optimized standard work, quality assurance, and procedures. Under the guidance of the System VP, will carry out the strategic plan to develop and drive operational transformation strategy for the ongoing development and improvement of patient access operations. Ensures the operational success of National access operations to standardize the patient experience, enhance consumer relationships and deliver the organizations business objectives. Partners with National and Regional leaders to ensure integration across all national, regional and market functions and drive performance that enhances provider engagement, growth, and market development in support of their short term and long range strategic and financial plans. As a leader with extensive strategic integration experience in large health systems, this System Director will serve as one of the leaders on the Physician Enterprise team, reporting to the SVP of Ambulatory Access Strategy and Operations.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for leading, directing and operationalizing the National strategy for patient access, connection centers, and medical practice growth across the Physician Enterprise, ensuring alignment with CommonSpirit Health’s mission and strategic objectives.
  2. Responsible for operational oversight of a portfolio of Regional Connection Centers by assessing, developing, and directing the transformation and optimization for service level agreements, long-term and bridge plan support, as a liaison to PE Operations within the Region. 
  3. Responsible for the operational success of Regional Connection Centers and medical practice growth across the enterprise to standardize the patient experience, enhance consumer relationships, drive consumer engagement, and deliver the organization's business objectives
  4. Responsible for delivering the successful deployment of capital and operational budgets for Access and Patient Connection Centers, including workforce implementation plans and deployment strategy.
  5. Creates a culture of engagement and continuous improvement across the enterprise. Uses feedback proactively to address conflict, minimize risk and continuously improve processes and foster open lines of communications between departments, executives, external partners, program leaders, physicians, and staff. Through effective recruitment, selection, management, retention and development of the team ensures employee engagement and motivation, fosters a collaborative team-based environment that drives a culture of quality focused on the end users throughout the enterprise.
  6. Establishes and delivers on key performance indicators (KPIs) to help identify opportunities to drive growth, quality and sustainability. Uses sound data and data governance to update, inform and provide education to National, Division and Market leadership, physicians, departments and business units regarding patient access issues and variation in metrics/process. 


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in ambulatory operations, practice management and patient access, in a large, complex, and integrated healthcare system.

Minimum of five (5) years of senior leadership and direct management experience. 

Experience leading ambulatory operations in a large, complex, and integrated healthcare system; including the strategic operations and scaling of patient access operations.  

Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and job related experience required. Master’s degree in health administration (or an equivalent combination of education and/or additional job-related experience) is preferred.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Proven success as a high performing operational leader in a large, complex, and integrated healthcare system.
  • Track record of collaborative communication skills with executives and physicians/APPs of various backgrounds and administrators at various levels.  
  • Strong acumen, and proven experience, in organizational leadership and continuous improvement in operational strategies. 
  • Knowledge and experience leading successful physician and employee engagement.
  • Training and experience with process improvement methodology and disciplines; ability to lead process improvement. (Lean Agile or other).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and understanding of the ambulatory revenue cycle.
  • Ability to analyze data and create concise recommendations.
