South Region:
CommonSpirit Health’s South Region spans seven distinct markets, covering over 1,300 miles across Arkansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee/North Georgia and Texas. With 42 acute-care and specialty hospitals, the Region offers a full spectrum of care, including Level 1 Trauma Centers, NCI-designated cancer care, transplant services, and comprehensive stroke care.
The South Region is also committed to rural health care delivery through critical access hospitals. The Region’s extensive ambulatory network includes Ambulatory Surgery Centers, imaging centers, urgent care sites, and cancer centers, supported by over 31,000 staff and employees, more than 1,500 employed providers across 350+ locations, and a comprehensive network of 9,000+ aligned providers.
The South Region also is a hub for medical education, with over 2,900 residents, fellows, and medical students in UME/GME programs affiliated with prestigious institutions like Baylor College of Medicine, Morehouse School of Medicine, University of Kentucky, and West Virginia School of Nursing, and boasts strong alliances with nursing and allied health programs.
Responsibilities
The Role:
The Region President is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the growth, performance, innovation, strategic direction, and overall success of the South Region. The incumbent will set high goals, drive innovation, and foster collaboration across the organization to achieve exceptional outcomes. Leveraging their expertise in the healthcare industry to identify and capitalize on market opportunities while ensuring regulatory compliance and strategic alignment.
We seek a dynamic leader with a passion for excellence and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. A seasoned healthcare leader will contribute toward the development of a regional strategy by coordinating and implementing effective strategic and capital plans, operating and capital budgets, major projects and initiatives, goals and objectives that respond to opportunities and organizational needs, ultimately enhancing competitive position and improving organizational effectiveness. More specifically, the duties are:
- Directs and oversees designated healthcare assets and demonstrates a solid understanding of different service lines and delivery models within the Region. Plans and implements new businesses using different business models and strategic relationships with external partners and physicians.
- Facilitates and reinforces through business processes and performance measures an institutional mindset for clinical innovation as an on-going process to look at clinical practices in order to reduce unnecessary variations to improve clinical outcomes and reduce costs.
- Advances administrative and clinical information technology by demonstrating ownership and actively participating in process re-engineering and behavior change to realize the benefits of technology solutions and ensure project success.
- Builds and develops a bench of management talent by ensuring effective utilization of human resources and oversees integrated strategies to ensure quality results in the recruitment, selection, retention and development of the workforce. Maintain collaborative relationship with the labor organizations.

- Develop, lead, and deliver compelling presentations to C-suite executives and the Board.
- Effectively communicate strategic initiatives and performance metrics.
- Interact with stakeholders in a manner that instills confidence in intentions and organizational objectives.

- Work collaboratively across a complex organization to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of senior-executive healthcare experience within a complex, multi-site, multi-state health care organization including acute-care hospital operations, physician engagement and effective physician relationships, ambulatory and outpatient service delivery systems, and healthcare philanthropy.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of direct management experience in a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree in healthcare administration (or an equivalent combination of education and/or additional job-related experience) is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in healthcare leadership roles, preferably with increasing responsibility and scope.
- Proven track record of setting and achieving ambitious goals.
- In-depth understanding of the healthcare industry, including trends, regulatory landscape, and market dynamics.
- Experience in strategic planning, with the ability to contribute to short-term and long-term business plans.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging with and ability to influence C-suite executives and board members.
- Ability to foster collaboration and build strong cross-functional partnerships.
- Exceptional decision-making abilities and judgment in complex situations.
- Strategic thinking capabilities with a focus on driving innovation and continuous improvement.
- Build, lead, and retain a high-performing and engaged leadership team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, development, and continuous improvement.
