Responsibilities

Job Summary

The System Director, Care Base Staffing Operations role is responsible for planning, designing, implementing and maintaining programs, policies, and management systems related to centralized staffing for float pool and contingency resources across CommonSpirit Health. This role directs and leads the integration of these services to assure patient-centered care needs are met and quality, cost-effective care improvements are achieved.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Develops a strategic plan to deploy central staffing operations across the ministry specific to contingent labor and float pools.
  2. Directs oversight of labor management and staffing resources allocations based on skill mix
  3. Deploys and oversees clinical staffing system compliance and end user adoption
  4. Supervisory responsibilities to include: interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations for staff assigned.
  5. Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
  6. Manages performance including: Setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback and recognition, developing skills and addressing performance issues.
  7. Demonstrates accountability for achieving operational, financial, and strategic measures for the system related to managing labor costs of regional float pools and contingency labor
  8. Develops and implements clinical programs to support clinical operations that assist and align with staff retention
  9. Serves as subject matter expert on: Nurse Staffing, Staffing IT systems, Productivity Management and employed contingent resources.
  10. Develops and implements programs and processes to support patient, employee and physician engagement.
  11. Acts as an internal consultant for nurse leaders related to nurse staffing, developing targets, and clinical programs.
  12. Demonstrates responsibility for maintaining and updating knowledge/skills in the fields of nursing, health care management and areas of responsibility. Participates in appropriate professional organizations and develops a professional network.
  13. Supports the Regions mission in developing innovative solutions to staffing concerns.
  14. Assures appropriate level of understanding, awareness and compliance with all applicable regulatory, federal, state and agency laws, guidelines and professional standards.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Required Bachelors Degree in related discipline, Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in the discipline and 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing supervisory experience.
  • At least one of the 5 years being leading in an acute care setting.

Required Certification and Licensure

  • Current RN licensure

  • Knowledge of current nursing practice and hospital inpatient staffing requirements

  • Technical/computer skills, attention to detail.
