Job Description
Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing complex healthcare datasets, identifying trends and insights, and translating them into actionable recommendations to improve patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and financial performance. This individual will work closely with stakeholders across various departments, including clinical teams, operations, finance, and quality improvement, to understand their needs and provide data-driven solutions.This position will gather business and data requirements necessary for product design and development and work with product teams throughout the project lifecycle including initiation/discovery, design/development, testing, validation and deployment.
Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Interpretation:
- Collect and/or analyze large and complex healthcare datasets (e.g., claims data, electronic health
records (EHR), patient satisfaction surveys, financial data, operational data) using statistical techniques, data mining, and visualization tools to identify data quality, trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Develop adhoc reports to highlight key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient outcomes, clinical quality, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
- Interpret data and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including finance leaders, operators, physicians, nurses, and administrators.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis to answer specific business questions and support strategic
- decision-making related to patient care, resource allocation, and process improvement
- Conducts and facilitates product testing and validation, leveraging key stakeholders to ensure both business and IT validations are reviewed and addressed.
Data Modeling & Management:
- Develop and maintain data models to support analytical needs, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Ensure data quality and accuracy through data validation and cleansing processes, adhering to HIPAA regulations and data privacy policies.
- Collaborate with data engineers and IT staff to improve data infrastructure and data pipelines, ensuring data is readily available for analysis.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of data dictionaries and documentation, ensuring data definitions are clear and consistent.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collect business requirements needed for product development tools that address the business needs
- Partner with stakeholders across various departments to understand their data needs and develop analytical solutions that address their specific challenges.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, using data visualization and storytelling techniques to effectively communicate insights.
- Provide training materials, conduct training and support to stakeholders on data analysis, products, tools and techniques, empowering them to use data to improve their work.
- Act as a subject matter expert on business products, healthcare data analysis and interpretation, providing guidance and support to other team members.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
- Identify opportunities to improve data analysis processes and methodologies, leveraging best practices in healthcare analytics.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in healthcare data analysis, including predictive analytics, machine learning, and natural language processing.
- Contribute to the development of new analytical tools and techniques to address emerging challenges in healthcare.
- Mentor and guide junior data analysts, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Public Health, or a related field or relevant experience required.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- 4-5+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, specifically within the healthcare industry.
- Proven track record of successfully analyzing complex healthcare datasets and providing actionable insights that have led to improved patient outcomes, operational efficiency, or financial performance.
- Experience working with large healthcare datasets, including claims data, EHR data, and patient satisfaction surveys.
- Experience working with stakeholders across various departments in a healthcare setting.
Skills:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).Ex
- Experience with using GCP - Biq Query
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker Core, Qlik, or similar.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with data modeling techniques.
- Experience with EHR / ERP systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) is a significant plus.
