As our Clinical Engineering Supervisor at Mercy Hospital in Durango,Colorado, a part of the CommonSpirit Health network, you’ll support patient care by ensuring the provision of professional, effective, efficient, safe, and accurate medical equipment service practices. This role allows for health care teams to confidently leverage diagnostic equipment when needed because of the work you and your team will do through a combination of Preventative Maintenance (PM) and equipment repairs.
Summary
This job is responsible for planning, supervising and evaluating the daily operations in the assigned clinical engineering department to provide clinical engineering services in accordance with, established policies, procedures, standards and regulatory requirements. Work also includes: 1) responsibility for meeting financial objectives; 2) evaluating department effectiveness; 3) ensuring optimum staffing levels; 4) overseeing the workflow of staff, 5) meeting regulatory requirements and standards and 6) performing all clinical engineering department activities, as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Repairs and maintains medical equipment performing all BMET duties and functions as required including on-call responsibilities.
- Maintains equipment repair records for medical equipment under contract.
- Assists in ordering of parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment.
- Communicates daily with Clinical Engineering Manager and effectively handles all service emergencies.
- Provides technical support and assistance to Clinical Engineering technicians.
- Interacts daily with hospital department managers, equipment users, physicians, and administrative staff concerning service usage issues. Attends daily huddles with hospital leadership to represent the clinical engineering department.
- Responsible for completing and maintaining all key performance indicators at or above program targets as established thru service level agreements.
- Responsible for clinical engineering standards during all regulatory compliance inspections and audits. Must maintain up to date understanding of The Joint Commission, NFPA, and other regulatory agencies/standard.
- Responsible for scheduling, approving overtime and PTO requests to ensure appropriate staff load.
- Assists the Clinical Engineering Manager withtechnical personnel recruitment, training and development including performing midyear and annual performance evaluations.
- Provides coverage and support for Clinical Engineering Manager during manager’s absence if needed.
- Assists Clinical Engineering Manager with operational and financial reporting.
- Provides input to the Account Manager regarding new service opportunities within a location serviced by the Clinical Engineering Division.

Mercy Hospital is an 82-bed acute-care hospital and is Southwest Colorado’s largest and most technically advanced medical facility. It is the only hospital in the region to receive from Medicare a five-star rating for overall hospital quality. As a Biomedical Technician at this facility you will have exposure to just over 4,500 pieces of medical equipment, including 3T MRIs and Cath Lab equipment.

Qualifications
- Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field or military equivalent
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- CBET, CRES, CLES, or CHTM preferred
- Minimum of 7 years’ technical experience required
- Minimum of 3 years’ related supervisory experience required
- Valid Driver's License required
