Overview

**Candidates located in the Pacific Time Zone**

The Financial Intake Coordinator – Level I is an entry level position responsible for coordinating and verifying private insurance coverage, Medicaid/Medicare coverage and other third party payer eligibility. Performs data entry and other clerical functions; coordinates and distributes paperwork; assists other team members to facilitate the insurance process.


Responsibilities
  1.   1. Adheres to the Corporate Compliance Program, including confidentiality of HIPAA protected health information. 
  2. Performs other duties, as assigned.
  3. Processes private insurance verifications, verifies eligibility of Medicare, Medicaid and third party payers and any other duties, as directed.
  4. Answers phones and routes calls appropriately.
  5. Answers insurance questions for home health staff via email and phone.
  6. Assists coordinators and other staff by responding timely to requests for information. 
  7. Communicates effectively and courteously with referral sources, patients, their family members and staff.
  8. Interacts with all management staff in a professional, effective manner to facilitate problem resolution.
  9. Consults with management on areas of concern or outside of authority level. 
  10. Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional growth and development by participating in orientation, in-services, agency meetings and educational opportunities.
  11. Performs any of the duties of other department members, if qualified by education, licensure and experience. 
  12. Maintains confidentiality of information of the department.
  13. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department through daily processes, and as directed by leadership.

Qualifications

Required:
High School Diploma, or equivalent.

Level I - Relevant experience in a professional setting, preferably in reimbursement qualifications, authorizations.

Level I & II - Ability to perform accurate account reconciliations, strong communication skills, reliable, responsible, team player.

Preferred:

Level I & II - One year secretarial or clerical work experience in a health care environment. Knowledge of medical terminology either through education or practical experience. Knowledge of patient referral processes, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement regulations and third-party payer requirements for home health coverage.
